'Palindrone' is a 50 minute extemporisation for electric guitar, glockenspiel, effects and a coffee cup, recorded at Berkley 2 studios, Glasgow, in August 2006.
The four movements of the piece constitute the genesis of the closing suite of the self titled Remember Remember album that was released on the 5th of November, 2008 by Rock Action Records.
The piece takes the loose form of a musical Palindrome as the second two movements form a kind of distorted mirror image of the first two, it is mostly rhythm free and built around pulses and drones instead (hence the terrible pun of the title).
The song titles 'This Is The Way The World Ends' and 'The World Ends, This Is The Way' play upon the closing lines of TS Eliot's poem 'The Hollow Men', which makes frequent allusions to the Gunpowder Plot.
These titles were changed upon the release of the album as, in hindsight, they seemed a little alarmist. This gives me some hope when faced with similar concerns 10 years hence.
